The Back to Education Initiative BTEI provides part-time further education programmes for young people and adults

Welcome to Carlow BTEI

Killorgan boatingBack to Education Initiative is a progressive programme of education across the county of Carlow. Course options offer certification to those who would like to build up their qualifications in preparation for a return to work. The courses offer steps of personal development that are flexible and at the learner’s own pace. Past learners have progressed immediately to employment and college.

Back to Education Initiative is:-

  • Available locally
  • Accredited by QQI up to level 5
  • Offered during the day
  • Organised in small groups
  • Open to all age groups over the age of 16.
  • Free to those who are receiving social welfare benefits, unemployment benefit, Medical card holders, or early school leavers.

In addition, many BTEI Courses offer access to computer training and work experience.

Invitation to Community Groups

Carlow BTEI welcomes approaches from community and voluntary groups who would like to offer courses in their own community. BTEI provides the tutors, programmes and the accreditation. Partners offer venues and promote the courses to their own members.

Eligibility:

BTEI are free for those without Leaving Cert, social welfare recipients and medical card holders.
